I've never understood why people do not like change.I thrive on change and can't wait to see what new adventure is waiting around the corner. Think about it...without change we would all become stagnant and predictable which sounds like two of the most boring personality traits ever. I also like to think of myself as a realist but positive person which tends to make me brutally honest - even when I shouldn't be quite that honest. So I think you will understand when I say that 2020 has been a bit too much change for my liking.
I tend to mark time based on my years in corporate America, so we are currently in the fourth quarter. It's the time of year when I reflect on what I did right as well as what was wrong or needs improvement or what needs to be completely changed.
This year I started my professional writing career and am well into my first novel. That is for sure a positive change. I have stopped watching the news and that is another for the positive column. As an avid reader of all things fiction, I have really put my love for reading to use this year and read about 180 books. Some have been great and some have been good, but they have all helped me through the lack of personal interaction that seems to be hanging around a lot longer than anyone expected.
I experienced a major loss this year which is a big check mark for the negative change column. Of course, COVID has made a mark in the negative column for everyone. Our favorite restaurant closed this year and that is definitely a negative change that I still having a hard time accepting.
The point change is going to happen but the positives still outweigh the negatives even with all the changes that have taken place and with lots more to come. This fourth quarter will end. Whether it ends well is entirely up to me and I just decided it is going to be fantastic.
