Scene One

Scene opens with a door bell ringing. Lights come up on the Grace’s living room. Paul is standing at the door delivering pizza to the Graces. Mari Grace answers the door. Christmas music is playing in the background.

PAUL: Hello ma’am. I have a medium half pineapple and half pepperoni. That will be $8.00.

MARI: Oh, yes, let me get you some money, son, why don’t you come on in?

PAUL: I really shouldn’t ma’am. I am on the clock.

MARI: Oh, nonsense! I need to go into the next room to get your money and there is no reason for you to wait outside.

PAUL: Well, okay,

Paul looks around the room and notices the Christmas tree with gifts, a guitar leaned in the corner and an open Bible on the table. There is also a picture of a man in uniform on the table as well.

Joe walks into the room

We have had quite the year of changes at the big house on West Main
However our rep as the best auctioneers in Tennessee we still sustain

It was 1977 when Jim and Jerry opened their realty and auction doors
Unlike our friends Hobbs and Lannom they are still making scores

Houses were going for less than sixty grand at the time
And auctions were already bringing in their own dime

Jim is still the busy broker but oh so set in his ways
You still see him on the road most all weekdays

However if you have an appointment you’ll have to wait
Because ‘bless him’ he is just going to be late

Some of the gang is here on V-Day Eve
Hopefully others will show up before we leave

Mark Lee is talking to Ben Ben about a piece of dirt
Until someone he knows comes in, then he is all flirt

Chad and John are deep in conversation about life and home
Shorty just told them to spend the night at Clingman's Dome

Laura just arrived and she's the one Chad is sweet'n
Today her fashion is channeling Diane Keaton

Kyle is taking orders and mixing drinks
He's the greatest no matter what Ed thinks

Jimmy is eating folks and confirming reservations
So he can't take part in the conversations

Mark is shaking the ice and proclaiming there's nothing in his glass
He's drinking Manhattans but it's Queens when he's drunk off his ass

There is an unknown couple at the table for two
I hope they come back since we area a rowdy crew

We are in the South as you know
We should not experience November snow

However, it's here along with ice
But Tennessee weather is a roll of the dice

Shorty & I are here with Darek, Houston, Lana, & Tim
Eating warm food, sipping bourbon, & laughing at whim

Lana actually made soup for dinner last night
Derek complemented Lana on a good bite

Lana balked at the compliment with too much salt
Tim said "Shut up" there was no fault

We all laughed until Pam walked in
Chris wasn't far behind coming in with a grin

Joseph and John keeping the bar seats warm
JoJo on the phone trying to sell a farm

Found out I'm a big Houston fan
Not Texas, but the Mormon roofing man
